Messaging App Scam

What is happening:

Scammers are reaching out to users on personal messaging applications, such as WhatsApp or Telegram, falsely claiming to represent financial institutions and offering deceptive cryptocurrency investment advice.

Red Flags:

Be aware if someone reaches out to you through a messaging application that it may be fraudulent.  Northern Trust DOES NOT conduct official business through personal messaging platforms such as WhatsApp or Telegram. Messages sent through these platforms claiming to represent Northern Trust are not legitimate, as we will only communicate with you through verified channels.
